Life

What is this thing called life?
Of anything, we are yet unsure.

It is Pluto's cold, unfeeling kiss.
Or more like, perhaps, Icarus,
Flying to aurora heights unbound
By reason's ever-present sound.

Better yet: remain in the grip of
Diana's inexperienced love.
More fruitful there life always is
Than one with led by Venus' vile hiss.

We are simply all lost at sea
With nothing but Neptune’s chilly
Spray to slake our thirst.
Even still, a dream is the first

Drop to fall from the sky.
Only the angels that fly
Above can escape nature’s watery rend:
A small brook fumbling into an ocean at the end.

“Question the stars, little one,”
says Jove. “Life has just begun.”

I like this one, Tim. Your other's were trash, but..thiiis one. haha.
It's weird...when I read it to myself I don't really notice the rhyme. But...very nice!
You're my favorite poet.

Awesome writing, Tim.

My two favorite parts:
"Even still, a dream is the first Drop to fall from the sky."
"By reason's ever-present sound."

You start with the ultimate question (which seems like it can never be answered or described), but I adore the pictures you create with your words.

For some reason, it's difficult for me to comment on this right now. However, I really appreciated your use of mythological gods and how you portrayed your thoughts on life by using their metaphorical roles. Also, tell me if I'm wrong, but I detected a sense of chronology in your descriptions... starting with life being hopeful and inexperienced, moving to a sense of loss, (perhaps Neptune's waters suggesting tears?), and ending with the importance of questioning our understanding and that which is greater than ourselves. Anyways, I really loved reading it, and that's what I took from it having only focused for like five minutes... I hope I got something that you intended :)

I read this before but I never commented on it. So good! I like what Katy got from it as well. I really like the rhyming in this one. And I love the fact that a Sigur Ros title is in it (intentional or not). Plus, the last two lines are amazing!
