a noise
shatters the cool evening air.
the shuffling from beside
greatly concerns us.
a beast
perhaps. or even a demon
lurks among the foliage.
who are we to face such
a nebulous malice?
an arm
shatters the cool evening air.
my fears, vanquished, humbly
retreat to the ends of my mind.
a brother
perhaps. or even a twin
there stands, protecting me.
what could harm me
now?
this night holds no darkness.
why? because i am with you.

I google-image searched "friend," hoping to find some obvious display of semblance.
Remarkably, most of the images contained some sort of dog.
That would be an unacceptable picture to use as a heading, so, for this post, I'm going to do away with the header picture.
I read this before too. Really good. I like how you wrote a poem about your almost-fatal adventure! Why hasn't anyone else commented this??
Also, nice new template.
I'm an awful person for taking so long to comment on these, Timothy. I apologize.
For some reason responding to your poetry using prose never seems quite adequate.
This is one of my favorites, I think. So good. Seriously. I love the last stanza.
I wish I could write more...
Wow...such words...
I love your poetry, Time. I hope that doesn't begin to lose meaning, as I comment in the same manner on just about all of your posts, but I really enjoy your writing.
my favorite part...
"a brother
perhaps. or even a twin
there stands, protecting me.
what could harm me
now?"
:)
Hmmm...I know I sent you an e-mail about this, but I feel bad not leaving an official comment, as well.
REALLY good, Tim. As Lisa said, I hope the fact that I always say that doesn't detract from my comments at all. It's just a testament to how amazing your poetry really is! I'm amazed every time. Seriously.
Et quel bon soir! Quelle bonne promenade--comme toujours.
Je te verrai bientot (grace a Dieu)!
